What to Expect From a Nursery Visit

Lucy Henderson

Leo's Children's Nursery

Choosing the right nursery for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. At Leo's Children's Nursery, we warmly invite all prospective families to visit our settings, meet our team, and experience the nurturing environment we provide for children from 6 weeks to 11 years.

How to Arrange a Visit

Arranging a visit to either our Arnold or West Bridgford nursery is simple. You can call us directly, send an email, or use the arrange-a-visit form on our website. We recommend visiting during our regular operating hours so you can see the nursery in full flow, observe our staff interacting with children, and get a true sense of the daily atmosphere.

What Happens During Your Visit

When you arrive, a member of our management team will welcome you and give you a tour of our facilities. You will have the opportunity to see all our rooms, from our cosy baby area to our stimulating pre-school spaces. We encourage you to ask questions at any point during your visit.

You will observe our staff engaging with children in various activities, from story time and creative play to outdoor adventures and structured learning. Pay attention to how staff speak to children, the warmth of their interactions, and how happy and settled the children appear.

Key Questions to Consider

During your visit, consider asking about:

  • Staff qualifications and turnover rates
  • How we support children with additional needs
  • Our daily routine and how it adapts to individual children
  • Our approach to behaviour management
  • How we communicate with parents about their child's day
  • Our settling-in process and how we handle separation anxiety

Preparing Your Child

If you are bringing your child on the visit, prepare them by talking positively about the nursery beforehand. Let them know they will meet new friends and kind grown-ups. Bring along a favourite toy or comfort item to help them feel secure in a new environment.

After Your Visit

After your visit, take some time to reflect on how you felt. Did the nursery feel warm and welcoming? Did the staff seem genuinely caring and knowledgeable? Were the children happy and engaged? Trust your instincts. A nursery that feels right in your heart is often the best choice for your family.

We understand that choosing a nursery is a big decision, and we are always happy to arrange a second visit if you would like to see a different time of day or speak with a specific member of staff. Your child's happiness and your peace of mind are our top priorities.
